For urgent claims situations, we always encourage you to call the claims department directly to file the report. If it is not an urgent situation, do not hesitate to call our office first, and we can help you determine whether filing the claim is the right option.

1) Make sure the claim can be covered, the damage was sudden and accidental caused by a covered hazard. Usually, we find people who want to file claims about leaks in the garden, for example, that would not be covered.

2) Make sure the claim amount exceeds your deductible, or submit a claim in your insurance record.

3) Claims on the roof are the most common claims in Colorado. In general, it is best to first call a licensed roofer for a free inspection and estimate. This can help you avoid an unnecessary claim if the damage is not important enough to justify an accident report. It is a good idea to get several appointments. Do not sign alone with the first one you speak with. We often see that people's rates increase because they filed multiple claims that did not pay or that paid very little. Even claims that are not paid can count against you and affect your future rates.
